High-rise offices hold high-level firefighting fire drills

<

At 10 a.m. on the 15th, a fire alarm was triggered at Lujiang Road, specifically at the office building of the Xiamen Fortune Center—the tallest structure in Fujian Province. This marked the official start of a high-level fire drill, simulating a major emergency situation. The building stands 192 meters tall. During the exercise, a simulated accident occurred on the 17th floor of one of the companies, causing a "fire" to spread to the main structure. The flames quickly reached the 34th floor, trapping two individuals in the "fire zone." In response, the Xiamen Fire Department mobilized 26 fire trucks and over 150 firefighters, along with advanced equipment, to conduct the "firefighting" operation. For the first time, a top-tier fire engine capable of delivering water up to 300 meters was deployed, showcasing the city's enhanced emergency response capabilities. Firefighters successfully located and rescued two "unconscious" individuals from the 17th and 34th floors, safely evacuating them to secure areas. Outside the building, 55-meter and 32-meter ladder trucks extended their work platforms, using high-pressure hoses to contain the spreading "flames." To tackle the high-rise fire, specialized water tankers equipped with high-pressure pumps delivered water directly to the rooftop. With coordinated efforts from multiple fire teams, the "major fire" was eventually brought under control and fully extinguished. This drill not only tested the readiness of the fire department but also highlighted the importance of preparedness in handling large-scale emergencies in high-rise buildings.
