Electrical performance protective footwear technical requirements

According to the Chinese national standard GB 4385-1995, which outlines technical requirements for anti-static and conductive shoes, the resistance values of these shoes must fall within specific ranges. Anti-static shoes should have a resistance between 100 kΩ and 100 MΩ, while conductive shoes must have a resistance of no more than 100 kΩ. In addition, leather shoes must comply with the regulations specified in GB 1002–1005, and fabric rubber soles must meet the requirements set by HG/T 2495.

Aside from electrical performance, key technical specifications for anti-static and conductive shoes include outsole wear resistance, upper-to-outsole adhesion strength, folding resistance of the outsole, and overall shoe peel strength. These standards ensure both safety and durability in environments where static control is essential.

Electrically insulating shoes must adhere to the general technical conditions outlined in GB 12011-2000. The electrical properties of these shoes, including electrically insulating rubber boots and electrically insulating cloth shoes, require that the leakage current does not exceed 0.3 mA per kilovolt (kV), as specified in Table 1.

For electrically insulating rubber boots and polymeric boots, the electrical performance requirements are slightly different. The leakage current should not exceed 0.4 mA/kV, and the specifications must meet the criteria listed in Table 2.

In addition to their electrical properties, electrically insulating shoes must also meet various mechanical and structural standards. These include the adhesion strength between the upper and surrounding strips, tensile properties of the upper material, adhesive strength between the upper and fabric components, folding resistance of the outsole, abrasion resistance, and the peeling strength of the finished shoe. Additionally, water permeability is an important factor in ensuring long-term performance and user safety.
