Anti-static and conductive shoes are regulated under GB 4385-1995, which outlines the technical requirements for these types of footwear. According to this standard, the resistance range for anti-static shoes should be between 100 kΩ and 1000 MΩ, while conductive shoes must have a resistance of no more than 100 kΩ. Leather shoes must meet the requirements specified in GB 1002–1005, and fabric rubber-soled shoes must comply with HG/T 2495 standards.

Aside from their electrical properties, anti-static and conductive shoes are also tested for outsole wear resistance, upper-to-sole adhesion strength, folding resistance of the soles, and overall durability. These performance criteria ensure that the shoes maintain their protective function over time and under various working conditions.

Electrically insulating shoes must adhere to the GB 12011-2000 standard, which defines the general technical conditions for such footwear. The electrical performance of insulating shoes and insulating cloth shoes is evaluated based on leakage current levels. Specifically, when the leakage current is 0.3 mA/kV, the product must meet the specifications outlined in Table 1.

The electrical properties of electrically insulating rubber boots and polymeric boots differ slightly, requiring that they meet the requirements of Table 2 when the leakage current is 0.4 mA/kV. This distinction ensures that different materials used in insulation footwear are properly tested for safety and effectiveness.

In addition to electrical performance, insulating shoes undergo testing for several other key characteristics. These include the adhesion strength between the upper and surrounding strips, tensile properties of the upper material, the bond strength between the upper and fabric components, the flexibility and wear resistance of the outsole, and the peeling strength of the finished shoe. Additionally, water permeability is tested to ensure that the footwear provides adequate protection against moisture and potential electrical hazards.
