Earthquake Rescue Handbook-Rescue Operations: Evaluate Rescue Opportunities

<

The search and rescue operations at the collapse site can be divided into five stages:

The first stage: assess the collapsed area;

1. Search for possible survivors in the area (on the ground / buried);
2. Evaluate the structural stability;
3. Assess the condition of the water and electricity facilities and close the facilities to ensure safety.

Second stage: rapid and safe transfer of ground survivors

Phase 3: Search and explore all voids and voids in collapsed buildings to find possible survivors

1. The speaking equipment can be used at this stage 2. Only trained search and rescue dogs or search and rescue personnel can search and rescue the cavity / accessible space

Stage 4: After determining the location of the survivors, use special tools and techniques to selectively remove building debris

The fifth stage: large-scale cleanup. Large-scale cleanup can usually be carried out after confirming that all known survivors have been safely transferred

The most difficult decision is that when the rescue resources are insufficient to cope with all search and rescue opportunities at the same time, the rescue must be made quickly. When this happens, the rescue team must consider the following factors to determine the priority of all search and rescue opportunities:

Survivability and durability of survivors. The difficulty of search and rescue and the expected results of search and rescue operations (eg. Rescue of one person should give way to rescue of two or more survivors)
Search and rescue personnel safety

The panels and quoins are made of natural stone, quartzite, granite, limestone, sandstone or slate. Each panel is composed of a number of individual natural stones that have been dressed by hand and adhered together with a cement back reinforced with a light metal or fibreglass mesh. All panels and quoins are Z-shaped in order to hide the joints from view, therefore, creating an authentic stone wall appearance each time.

Made from natural stone, our panel systems improve in colour and maintain the beauty and characteristics in all climates, therefore the perfect alternative to manufactured stone and traditional methods.
