Soitec Concentrating Photovoltaic Modules achieve 38.9% conversion efficiency

Soitec, a French semiconductor expert, said that the conversion efficiency of a module integrating its highly efficient four-junction condenser photovoltaic (CPV) battery has recently reached 38.9%.

For this record, the four-node SmartCell is integrated into a module that uses the same platform as the existing concentrator PV modules with three-junction cells.

The German research institute Fraunhofer ISE tested the components and the agency has always been one of Soitec's partners in developing this technology, with normal exposure to 1,000W/m2 and battery temperature of 25°C. The display efficiency is 38.9%, ±0.9%. The record-breaking component has an aperture area of ​​812cm2, using thirty-six lenses and SmartCell.
