Roth & Rau and InnoLas jointly develop technology to increase photovoltaic cell efficiency by 1%

Photovoltaic equipment manufacturer Roth & Rau AG headquartered in Hohenstein-Ernstthal, Germany, and InnoLas Systems GmbH, headquartered in Kralling, Germany, have developed a technology solution that can increase the conversion efficiency of monocrystalline silicon solar photovoltaic cells by 1%.

This solution integrates upgraded versions of plasma chemical vapor deposition (MPCVD), lasers for passivated emitters, and rear cell photovoltaic cells. According to the company's report, the company's development process is closely related to photovoltaic manufacturers, which have installed some of these systems.

Richard Grundmüller, Managing Director of InnoLas Systems GmbH, stated: "We increase the efficiency of our industrial production lines and it is not only under laboratory conditions that are critical."

"In recent months, our technology has proven to be very powerful. Today, our technology can be integrated into existing production lines."

Component design makes the process more flexible

In this system, Roth & Rau combines a MAiA PECVD system for back passivation (made of alumina and silicon nitride) with InnoLas Systems GmbH for a laser contact open ILS TT system.

Roth & Rau said: "The system's component design makes the process more flexible. The variability allows the device to easily adapt to existing needs. The company also pointed out that the use of alumina and silicon nitride coatings increases the safety of the entire process."

Roth & Rau said that the company is preparing to integrate technology into some of the "top manufacturers" component production lines.
