Medar Cabos, a subsidiary of Bahrain-Medal Cable Co., has recently entered into a significant partnership with Mozar, Africa's second-largest aluminum producer. This collaboration marks a major step forward in the local production of aluminum-based products in Mozambique. Amando Inroga, the Minister of Industry and Trade of Mozambique, highlighted the importance of this agreement, stating, “While all aluminum products needed by our construction sector, electrification projects, and automotive industry have traditionally been imported, this deal will enable us to produce these materials locally, significantly reducing costs for other industries.†Under the terms of the contract, Mozar will supply 50,000 tons of aluminum ingots to Medal, which will use them as raw material for manufacturing cables. These products are expected to support both the growing automobile and construction sectors within the country. The production process will take place at the Beluluane Industrial Park in Maputo, where Mozar’s foundry is located. This strategic location ensures efficient logistics and access to key markets across the region. Medal, established in 1977 through a joint venture between Bahrain Intersteel and Olex Cable Australia, has a long-standing reputation for quality and innovation in the cable industry. With this new partnership, the company is poised to expand its operations and contribute more significantly to Mozambique’s industrial development.
