In 2009, Hitachi Tools introduced two types of super-hard taps that can be used for internal threading of hardened materials. Internal thread processing generally uses high-speed steel tapers, and tapping of hardened materials is more difficult. When using super-hard taps, in order to prevent breakage and chipping, it must be processed before quenching. With the new product, it can be processed after quenching, so the manufacturing cycle of the mold and parts can be shortened.

Super-hard tap products are available in "Epoch SuperHardTap" for 50-60 HRC materials and "Epoch SuperTap" for 35-50 HRC materials. The former improves the discharge of the chips by improving the cross-sectional shape. The latter achieves stable machining by controlling the packing of the chips during reverse rotation.

Both taps increase the breakage resistance by increasing the diameter of the die shank. Extends life by using high hardness material processing coatings. For the stable processing of taps, unique technology is indispensable, including the setting of cutting conditions. Therefore, no other new companies have been added. At present, the market share of taps is accounted for by more than half of OSG and the Manchu and Production Center (Central District of Tokyo).
