Dörries Scharmann merges with StarragHeckert

At the beginning of this year, StarragHeckert of Switzerland acquired Dörries Scharmann of Germany for US$95 million. The combined company will have an annual production value of US$415 million and a favorable position in the medium to ultra heavy machine tool field. Dörries Scharmann had sales of $173 million in 2010, three manufacturing facilities in Germany and France, and sales companies in the United Kingdom, the United States, China, Russia and Brazil. The main products are Dörries vertical lathes, Droop + Rein gantry machining centers, Scharmann horizontal machining centers, boring and milling machines, Berthiez lathes and grinding machines, and Ecospeed aviation gantry milling. StarragHeckert's history in Switzerland dates back to 1897. It began production of gantry milling in 1920. After the acquisition of Heckert in Germany in 1998, it began to use the current name. In the first half of 2010, StarragHeckert had sales of 96 million Swiss francs and a profit of 3 million Swiss francs. The products are mainly four-axis or five-axis machining centers, special blade processing equipment, high-precision SIP card processing centers and engineering services.
