Taiwan hardware experts talk about the quality gap between cross-strait hardware products

On the eve of the opening of the first cross-strait hardware trade fair in Quanzhou, Fujian Province, Chen Senmao, vice chairman of the Taiwan Hardware Business Association, and Xie Qingfeng, chairman of the Taiwan Hand Tools Industry Association, shared issues with the mainland hardware industry. The industry has had sincere and friendly talks. During the talks, the leaders of the two Taiwan Chambers of Commerce specifically mentioned the quality gap between cross-strait hardware products. First of all, the mainland hardware industry must recognize these gaps and face these gaps. Taking hardware tools as an example, they talked about the following points:
Taiwan's hardware tools industry has successfully completed the upgrading of its products in the past decade. In the early 1980s, the Taiwan tool industry relied mainly on low-cost advantages in the international market to seize the European and American markets. At that time, the quality of Taiwan's tool products was relatively poor, and the export products were mainly DIY household tools. Since the 1990s, Taiwan's hardware industry has been based on the upgrading of products, vigorously improving the quality of products, strengthening research and development efforts, and striving to develop new products with higher added value. At present, the style and quality of Taiwan's hand tool products are comparable to those of Western developed countries such as Europe, America, and Japan, and they have a place in the fierce market competition.
Taiwan's pneumatic tools have certain advantages in the international market. Our Taiwan's pneumatic tools have certain competitive advantages in terms of quality, price and service. Many Taiwan-made pneumatic tools have entered the European, American and mainland markets. Taiwan's pneumatic tool exports account for a considerable share of international trade. In sharp contrast, Taiwan's power tools have gradually been eliminated by power tools produced in the mainland. Due to the low price, mainland power tools have a clear advantage in the European and American household power tools market.
The upgrading of mainland tools has become an urgent issue facing the industry. Taiwanese counterparts believe that the current status of the mainland tool industry is very similar to that of Taiwan 20 years ago. Although the mainland's production technology and enterprise management level have improved to some extent in recent years, mainland hand tool products still rely mainly on low-cost advantages to occupy the foreign household tool market. The added value of the product is low, and the economic benefits of the enterprise are not high. Therefore, mainland companies must list the upgrading of products as the most important task at present. Only by continuously improving the grade of products can mainland enterprises stand in an invincible position in the future international market competition. Â
